Let’s be honest. Everyone knows about crypto these days. Even my sixty-year-old parents. Information about cryptocurrencies is everywhere on the internet.

Here are some interesting fun facts that you (probably) did not know.

The first ever Bitcoin commercial transaction was made for a pizza.

In 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz used 10,000 Bitcoin to buy two Papa John’s pizzas from Jeremy Sturdivant. Bear in mind that the price of Bitcoin was not what it is today. The amount of 10,000 Bitcoin was almost $40 back then. If this transaction was done today, it would have been a very expensive pizza.

The smallest denomination of Bitcoin is called Satoshi.

In case you didn’t know, Satoshi Nakamoto is the founder of Bitcoin. To this day, his identity remains unknown. Just like the dollar has cents as a denomination, Bitcoin has its own. The smallest one is named Satoshi equivalent to 100 millionth of a bitcoin.

Bitcoin consumes more energy than in some countries.
