Great article Ronke!
You linked some very high-quality sources--which is extremely rare on this platform-- and I'm very glad there are people out there who are-- like you--trying to avoid misinformation.
From my experience in med school and hospitals where I've assisted in a large variety of surgeries and emergencies, you can notice a big difference between male and female doctors.
It seems to me that female doctors--as you've mentioned in the article-- are very up-to-date, and can recall a lot of information, whereas male doctors tend to be more risk-takers and quick to make decisions when it comes to emergencies.
In my opinion, both are needed to be an exceptional doctor and I’ve seen this combination only in one male general surgeon in my entire life.
But making generalizations is always idiotic because it all comes down to the specialty, years of experience, and definitely who the person is.
I've met a lot of bad male and female doctors.
The only thing that baffles me is the initial study you linked about post-op complications. I couldn't find a way to read it extensively but the fact that it's a cohort study and didn't mention the surgeries that were performed--since the mortality and complication rate varies a lot in different surgeries-- should be alarming with its conclusions.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! :D
